Bass fishing with clam bellies has been very good at the  Meadowbrook  & 2nd Wantagh bridges as well as Zacks bay to pole 17 on the incoming tide with fish to 38".  For those going east the Robert Moses bridge was also very productive on clam bellies.  Early morning popping in SBC produced bass to 38" & some big blues.  Also great action at Fire Island lighthouse on Pintails & Bass Assasins for keeper bass & blues.  Fluke fishing produced more keepers to 24" .  Massapequa Cove to Tanner Park as well as Jones & Fire Island inlets on white & green Terminators tipped with spearing & squid .

Fluke fishing today was very productive on white & green bucktails & teasers tipped with spearing & squid.  Big eyes seem to be most productive because of all the anchovies moving into the bay.
Striped bass fishing is also improving on top water lures as opposed to swimming plugs producing fish in the 15 pound range.
Bluefish are all over the bay & bridges sandeel jigs & diamond jigs working best. Also blowfish have moved into back bay such as Massapequa Cove, on clams or sandworms

Fluke fishing was best today in the State Boat Channel from Lindenhurst cut to Cedar Beach,  Few keepers with a load of shorts, squid & spearing worked best.  Also lots of bluefish in this area.  Another productive spot was the Jones Beach Fishing Peirs to 2nd & 3rd Wantagh Bridges.
Bass is on the upswing with clam bellies being the most productive at both 2nd & 3rd Wantagh Bridges as well as the Meadowbrook Bridge fish up to 34", on the outgoing tide.
Trolling Southbay umbrella shad rigs in east west channel from Unqua Point to Tanner Park has also proven effective with fish in the 28" range.

April 21, 2011

Bass now spreading throughout the bay from Massapequa Cove to Tanner Park.  Best bet would be 3 x 3 with whole sandworm, or small bucktails 3/8 oz to 1/2 oz with white Sluggos.  We are now open Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, Saturday 6am to 6pm, Sunday 6am to 3pm. Hours will increase as season progresses.

Hi guys, we had a few customers drifting sandworms on a 3x3 rig today. Got 1 report of an angler catching 2 bass 24" & 28" released. The fish were caught in east west channel near intersection of Amityville cut. He marked fish from Amityville cut to Tanner Park. Need a few more sunny days & warmer water tempatures to put the fish on a good bite.

Some flounders have been reported off the Amityville Beach in about 7 feet of water mostly on worms and mussels. Outgoing tide seems to be your best bet. A few bass have been reported around bouy 24 Massapequa Cove on small 3/8 oz white bucktails.
